Toronto's "United We Sole" Event

Toronto Loves Kicks' "United We Sole" event was definitely a success.  Check out my photo coverage of the event at Sneaker Freaker.

Here's the lowdown on the day via Dion of Toronto Loves Kicks:

"This sneaker convention brought in over 1200 people from around the City and abroad and created a lane that was much needed in Toronto.  You had your choice of Foamposites, Wolf Grey's, Ragging Bull pack, Air Max 95's, Air Force One's customized personally for TLK courtesy of Anthony Armenta.  Clothing lines included Nothin', Doinitwell, TheONE and Ambush Apparel helped along side exclusive Snap Backs to literally set the ATM on fire. That's just to name a few of the heat that you could have expected to see.

Throughout the event there were giveaways by the hour, plenty of photo's being taken by the TLK back drop as everyone was "sneakergenic". We had live performances by JRDN, Church Chizzle - MuchMusic's Rap City freestyle battle champion and Gee Wunder to name a few of the talent within the community. In addition, we had DJ Tabs and Channel Nine at the show and what a social driven sneaker party convention this turned out to be. You had collector’s young and old trading, purchasing and selling limited edition sneakers, as well as discussions of their guilty sneaker obsessions.

If you were to ask the Co-Founders of Toronto Loves Kicks what they set out to achieve with United We Sole they would say for a buy, sell and trade socially driven Sneaker Expo which will attract all walks of life, art and culture which is a direct reflection of our City uniting everyone's sole in the process. It's important to us to have everyone step with a positive sneaker forward in order for our City to grow as one.

Look out for more great social initiatives from Toronto Loves Kicks and stay tuned for more details on United We Sole’s ‘FALL' edition by visiting www.torontoloveskicks.com"

Another Grey sneaker release: AM1 "Wolf Grey"

Nike is really taking this whole "grey" trend to the next level. The next release in this grey line up is the Air Max 1 "wolf grey". I don't really have a problem with the shoe or the color. These are clean and are right up my alley but I'm frankly tired of all these "cool grey" or "wolf grey" releases. Can we name it something else?! Between this grey and "South Beach" colorways I guarantee these two will be beat to death by the end of the year.

FSF Interview: Adena Andrews of espnW

Adena Andrews is a writer for the new espnW--espn's site dedicated to female athletes and fans--covering mostly basketball. I got to talk with her about what it's like working at such a famous "start up", how her kicks knowledge helps her in the locker room, and what kind of a baller she was like back in the day...

What do professional basketball players say about your kicks when you interview them?

I walk into locker rooms and the guys be like, “I see you with the lime green kicks!” Or they will say, “What you know about them Dunks girl?” Sneakers get me respect in the NBA world. My favorite sneaker head moment was when I was rocking some black and white Converse designed by John Varvatos. Anyway, I walked past Dr. J (yes, that Dr. J!) at an Orlando Magic game in Orlando. When I walked by he said, “Nice sneakers.” I almost could have died! Dr. J. Mr. Converse. The first ever dunk contest winner. The man whose picture was on my wall as a little girl, complimented MY SNEAKERS! At that point, I could have died a happy woman....

Nike is pushing the Hyperfuse

This week Nike has released images for the new hyperfuse mash-ups for the fellas, and now they are showing what they have planned for us ladies. Here is a little preview of the ladies' hyperfuse...

Now I have to be honest, I have no idea what the heck is so special about hyperfuse technology. If you know can you please help a sista out? But back to the shoes, the only silhouette in this whole hyperfuse craze that is decent is the air max 90's. The rest is just not moving me. These colorways and a few others will be out sometime next month. So what are your thoughts about these hyperfuse mash-ups?

Kixpo is coming to Cowboys Stadium!

If someone tells you sneaker culture is dead, show them this! Doesn't get much bigger than Cowboy Stadium. And if you're near Dallas, check out FSF's own Fee at the event.

Crazy Lights live up to billing

I got my Crazy Lights last week and finally got to ball in them tonight. I've been balling all week, but outdoors, and these babies aren't up for that. (The outsole would be smooth way too quick; I'm worried about that even indoors.) SO...I waited. Tonight it was worth the wait! Here are my initial thoughts...

  • Great fit for my narrow feet. Really comfortable on the 1st wear.
  • The gym was almost 100 degrees and my feet weren't hot. Super ventilation.
  • The lightness did make me feel quicker. I definitely had more steals and fast breaks than usual!
  • They squeak! A lot. But you get used to it.
  • I do want to try the sturdier insoles. I forgot to bring them along, and at times I felt I could have used more cushioning.
  • And as a sneaker fiend as well as a ball player, I did love all the compliments I got on them! They look GOOD.
  • My team won.

$130. Goes down to a 6.5 men's at Footlocker. More colors coming soon.

Another Undefeated X Puma Collab canvas edition

Undefeated has teamed up with Puma again to release a canvas version of the Puma Clyde. They didn't completely leave the the whole shoe canvas though. There is a nice touch of leather on one side of the Puma stripe. Definitety feeling the material change and I'm also feeling the blue ones. These are slated to release on Friday June 10th.

C.O.P. Magazine Issue 4!

I've had a love affair with magazines since I learned how to read.  Dr. Seuss?  Nah, I'll peep that Tiger Beat, thanks.  I can recall begging my Mom to buy me the new issue of Sassy/Seventeen/YM every time we were at the supermarket check-out.

As an adult, however, I hadn't yet found a magazine that printed material I could actually 100% relate to.  That was until I was asked to write an article for C.O.P. Magazine.  C.O.P. is not easily described but let me give it a shot.  It's a magazine by street smart and street-cultured women, for street smart and street-cultured women.  If you're into graf, sneakers, art, humor and underground music, I think you'll "get" it, and love it.

With that all being said, the new issue is still hot off yesterday's press.  You can download the digital copy for a buck or order yourself the real deal for $10, right here!

I need more Sneaker Variety

This past week I was thinking to myself that I have way too many Nikes in my closet. Now there is nothing wrong with having a lot of items by your favorite brand, but it's also good to spice up your life with a little variety. So as a promise to myself I'm definitely gonna start switching things up. First on my list is this Puma Suede aka Clyde Aqua/Purple

I'm really not down for low top sneakers, but the Puma Suedes get a pass. The color combo really caught my attention because I'm such a sucker for aqua/teal and purple. Definitely want to get these!

Next on my list is the Vans Zebra sk8-hi. I don't know why I didn't pick these up when they released a few months ago but these are a perfect fit for me! Zebra print on the sides and it's all black. I should have been on this sneaker since like yesterday. If you know of a store or anybody who's selling these in a wm sz 8/men 6.5, please leave a comment in this post.

Last on my list is a pair of Keep sneakers. I know I have mentioned this brand and how much I like them and I still can't believe I haven't gotten a pair yet! Smh! Hopefully I can get my act together a get a pair.

Don't forget your True Blues

For all you Jordan fiends and AJ3 enthusiasts, tomorrow is the release day for the True Blue 3's. So get your coinz and dollarz ready!
